United States of America (Press Release) July 30, 2008 --
The operating system, drivers, and device installation components store information about drivers and devices in the registry. In general, drivers and device installation components should use the registry to store data that must be maintained across restarts of the system.
Registry contents should always be treated as untrusted, modifiable information. If one of your driver components writes information to the registry and another component reads it later, do not assume that the information has not been modified in the meantime. After reading information from the registry, your driver components should always validate the information before using it.
Symptoms of having invalid device drivers include messages upon startup similar to: "This file is either referenced in your Registry or your Win.ini ... You should either remove this reference or reinstall this file's associated application...". Sometimes if a problem is too serious Windows can fail to start up normally. Registry Booster can analyse and detect for such errors.
Note: Only edit the registry if you know what you are doing: the consequences of your mistakes could be rather extreme - at its worst, you will need to re-install Windows from scratch.
